Microfinance African Institutions Network (MAIN)
The MAIN (Microfinance African Institutions Network) is an international non-profit organization founded in 1995 in Abidjan by several institutions (CERUDEB, SIPEM, SIDI, FIDI, and IDM) with extensive experience in microfinance and/or the promotion of micro-enterprises in Africa. As of December 31, 2024, MAIN had 141 members in 28 countries.
To date, MAIN has organized 13 international conferences, 47 university program sessions, 91 thematic training sessions, and 19 exchange visits. A total of 4,287 microfinance practitioners have been trained by MAIN. In addition, MAIN has produced 11 publications.
MAIN brings together microfinance institutions (MFIs), national networks, NGOs working in microfinance, cooperatives, farmers’ organizations, banks, and resource organizations (universities, social investors, etc.). MAIN member institutions reach more than 16 million beneficiaries through their financial and non-financial services.
